Adolescent Counselling
How I work
I offer a combination of talking, creative and art-based approaches, which are beneficial ways to process complex feelings and thoughts.
The Benefits of Therapy
The teenage years are a time of change, growth, and discovery, but they can also be a time of stress, anxiety and confusion. Adolescents face a range of challenges, including academic pressure, social issues, family conflict, and mental distress and helplessness.
Many are still suffering from the after-effects of the Covid years, gaming addiction or decreased ability to socialise in person, or to attend educational settings physically.
So many teens (and pre-teens) face the intense pressure of maintaining a popular and attractive online presence, and hold an almost constant worry of having embarrassing photos/videos or unkind rumours spread about them on social media.
All of these issues have contributed to a huge rise in anxiety amongst our young people, which can lead to a whole host of other problems, in addition, many teens may have to contend with past or present traumatic experiences and some may be living with certain conditions, illnesses, disabilities or learning needs.
Counselling with a professional can provide teenagers with a safe space to express and process their thoughts and feelings, while building coping tools and resilience along the way.
